Canada has been chosen the nr 1 destination country to visit in 2017 by both of my favourite travelling sites Lonely Planet and Conde Nast. There are several reasons why to travel to Canada with kids next year. Marking 150 years since confederation Canada is celebrating and also giving gifts to travellers. In 2017 all Canada’s National Parks in addition to Historic Sites and Marine Conservation Areas are free to visitors.
You can register your free entrance pass online and it allows you to visit 47 parks. Furthermore, if you feel you need to do something else in addition to all those hours spent in nature you can discover the best places to visit and things to do with kids in Canada here.
Looking for nice family vacation destination in Europe but would like to discover something new? Montenegro is a nice place to travel with kids – it’s majestic nature with mountains and the country’s great historical legacy will not only enthuse children but definitely their parents as well.
If you wish to have an easy but oh so pleasant vacation with kids go to Tivat area by Adria Sea which has a nice selection of lovely hotels to stay for a beach holiday or city break. The locals are well known for their hospitality and they have their fascinating stories and legends to tell. Here are some events and activities that make Montenegro one of the best family holiday destinations in 2017.
3. Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Dubai together with its richer brother Abu Dhabi have been popular for couple of years now. It is OK alternative to former popular beach holidays in Egypt and also if you like everything grand, magnificent, biggest, largest, tallest …
Abu Dhabi is somehow more refined, a little bit more green (yet, artificial) and a bit more modest. It’s worth visiting Sheik Zayed Grand Mosc for sure – take your pictures on the sun set when the mosc is shining in pink and all other warm sunset colors and don’t forget to cover yourself (especially women) to go inside the magnificent building.
But there’s one more important reason to choose United Arab Emirates as your family vacation destination in 2017. Dubai Parks and Resorts are open from the end of 2016 and I bet most kids would do everything to go there. I’m not sure that parents will enjoy all the rush and hustle but decide yourself by watching their promotional video.
Greece has something old and something new for everybody. Is it Athens with all the history or one of those lovely islands Greece has a lot to offer for family vacations.
In 2017 Greece capital Athens has some surprises ready for visitors. Always known as one of the oldest places in Europe Athens is going to prove itself as a status of modern art capital. For instance, Greeks recently opened modern Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center which houses the National Opera and the National Library of Greece.
But if your kids are small and you’re not that big of a fans of cultural holiday there is still a lot to see and do in Athens starting with Acropolis of Athens.
In addition go outside the cities and discover everything else Greece has to offer. Last year our family fell in love with tiny Hydra island – the place with no cars, but with lots of fun with donkey rides and water taxis. It’s definitely a place with little simple everyday wonders to travel with kids in 2017 if you haven’t been there yet. Read more from Hydra island with kids post.
5. Indonesia, Bali island
Eat Pray Love’s fame has faded but Bali is still gaining from it. If you already visited Bali’s mountain trails and healers and massage salons and all the hip party places you might find it versatile to visit Bali with kids and to see the island from a different angle.
Enjoy the nature of Indonesia walking around rice fields and small villages and take your kids to their first surfing lessons. Bali might become your favourite family holiday destination in 2017.
One of the best ways to spend time with kids is going to wild nature with them. It will teach them a lot, give freedom to run around or do whatever and you will all have quality time spent together in healthy environment. We of course love our local Estonian forests but in 2017 there is a reason to visit our neighbour country Finland as well.
Finland gained independence in 1917 after 800 years of fights over by Russia and Sweden. Finns will celebrate their country’s 100th birthday this year with lots of different activities starting with concerts to their famous sauna evenings.
There’s even a new national park, an 11,000-hectare chunk of land in Hossa, studded with pine forests and crisscrossed with rivers. So according to Lonely Planet there’s never been a better time to discover Finland’s proudly unique culture and landscapes.
7. Carribean islands
Which would be a better place to spend your family vacation than an island with paradise beaches? Long white sand dunes, coconut palm trees and the beauty of blue ocean plus all the sights and activities that are there according to the island you choose.
Make Carribean the best family holiday destination of 2017 by visiting several islands in a row by cruise boat. Kids will love all the activities that are there on the boat for them during the journey. And parents will have their fun to see the destinations and to relax by the sun until kids are occupied doing everything you will see on that video for example.
Denmark’s capital Copenhagen is supposed to be a the cheapest place to visit in April so why not to take a city break when the Spring sun is already shining. Read more about the Danes way of happy living from Copenhagen with kids post and make plans for visiting the place where lots of fairytales have born.
If Copenhagen isn’t enough it’s best time to visit Aarhus (Århus) in 2017 as it is one of two European Culture capitals this year.
Portugal is a kid friendly destination and you’ll meet lots of other families with small kids if you go there. Villa holiday by Mediterrean sea and nature is my personal family vacation favourite. Especially in the Spring time when everything is blooming or in the Autumn when it’s still warm enough for swimming but the figs are ready for eating and taste even more delicious if kids can pick them themselves.
Portugal is small enough to drive around and see a lot during your trip. In addition to grand capital Lisbon and visiting the best beaches you should definitely visit historical Porto which is considered one of Lonely Planet’s best value destinations of 2017. Portugal’s second city has a clutch of inexpensive museums, cheap vintage trams to delight the transport nerd in your party and a pebbly beach an hour’s walk along the riverbank.
10. The Philippines
According to Forbes The Philippines is heating up as a destination for 2017. Palawan is where the magic still remains a little more untouched and quiet compared to popular, Boracay Island. Palawan has some of the most diverse landscapes as well as some of the best aquatic life in the country. You’ll spend your days snorkeling, diving, beach hopping and exploring underground cave systems.
There’s another wonder in The Philippines – the Chocolate Hills that look as delicious as they sound. Something to remember for a lifetime for kids for sure.
